I'd say a 2nd rounder is fair.

I know the Devils have a lot of injuries on the blue-line but at $4M for another year, he's nothing more than an upgrade over Foster at this point. Both are defensive liabilities. Sadly, this is probably this best Lou could do since the Devils really have no assets to move, especially with the NHL strong arming NJ out a 1st rounder due to the Kovy contract garbage. Hopefully it's a 2nd rounder in 2014. Realistically this upcoming draft is fairly deep, and in all likelihood NJ will be forfeiting their 1st rounder next year unless they tank the rest of the way. They could potentially be without a 1st and 2nd rounder in the 2013 draft. That's not how you build depth in a system which really isn't that high in terms of overall talent anyway. Truthfully I don't like this pickup at all.
